I absolutely love how actionable this in. Thank you so much for utterly wrecking my plan for the day! I had it very structured with clear goals that I have now thrown out the window because this has my brain desperate to try it out and I can just imagine now the rabbit hole I am going to fall into... how marvellous!
I started with the first prompt for my industry and I am blown away. Using the Hemingway technique to take time away and write this note because there was so much to process in just the first part. I used Perplexity to grab all the links for competitors and the first prompt. Going to move the rest over to Claude since it works really well with spreadsheets.
Can't wait to see what else I uncover through the remaining prompts. Thanks Mia!
(good luck and “I hope you’ve got the time to put your mind to it”, because between my AI startup Yahini, the marketing, the AI stuff, dev stuff, AND this newsletter, I would need a magic wand, maybe 😂)
This is fucking awesome. As someone who is an small independent consultant with a partnership business model looking to expand nationally and internationally, this is what I need. I need to go more in depth with the prompts to figure out who Isn't doing what.
This is awesome Mia! The map example you used is one of my favorite ways to explain the value of loose opportunity mapping to leaders trying to be more innovative. Really interesting to see you use it more tactically :)
This is neat and really in-depth. Can't wait to try it out.
I feel that, as creators, AI is terrible with creative solutions/suggestions but great at kicking off brainstorms, finding gaps, and running SWOT analyses.
I'm starting to see Substack as a potential business platform for me and What you propose here gives clarity to some ideas I already have, some workflows I already do, but now with this valuable article I can just improve. big thanks!
Thank you Daria ❤️ yep, they uncover so many new content ideas and "categories" it'd have probably taken you ages and tons of "being in the mood" to research them haha. Thanks for reading!
This framework is brilliant. Too often, we chase best practices and miss the silent gaps competitors leave behind. Using AI to map those ‘dragons’ feels like a real game-changer for category creation.
You drew me in with dragons and excellent storytelling, but then delivered so much thought provoking, actionable content in this piece. This was brilliant. Standing ovation worthy. Thank you for sharing!!! I came in expecting a nice fun piece to read over lunch, but instead you've got my brain swirling with ideas and inspiration. This was soooo good. Thanks again!
P.S.: As you yourself admit at the end, it may be quite overwhelming to take on this task in one fell swoop. As a matter of fact I wish you diluted in a few, separate simpler steps with more specific advice and examples of how to actually carry it out.
See what David said above - you definitely aren't meant to do this in one go, but it's an entire workflow you need to go through. It's meant to be saved and taken on step by step :)
Please do tell me, what would you've liked to see more of? I can go into more specifics in future editions but besides the huge prompts, it's just a matter of: gather URLs, create a table, run an analysis.
Looking forward to your thoughts, they're super appreciated! :)
Yes I understand, but still it's feel awkward when you are served a dish much bigger than what you can eat, even if they tell you that you can come and eat it over a week. It still feels overwhelming and may discourage the less determined to try this suggested slow-bite approach.
What you describe as "it's just a matter of: gather URLs, create a table, run an analysis" arrives on this end as a big cognitive load, because unlike you (or David!) I have never done it, and I am not really even too shure on how to start on the first one.
Yes the instructions are clear, but seeing a short screencast of someone actually doing it, would positively make things more approachable for me.
Good points Robin! I think it comes down to knowing my audience. I usually write for folks already working with AI systems, so it can be tricky to hit the right level for everyone. Can definitely see how this feels too dense!
Video would be cool, though I'm really not a video person 😅 YET.
Here's a thought if you're still up for trying this - you could actually feed the entire workflow into an AI and prompt it to break everything down into smaller, achievable steps. Might make it way more approachable :) (I can do this for you if you'd like and send the doc over DM, absolutely no issue!)
Re: video. You don’t need to show your face. Just record your screen and your voice that shows the steps.
Re: audience. I would have thought to be in that category myself, but again, there’s a lot to chew and understand in this article to make sense of at once. I wonder how many more Davids are there… raise your hands guys!
I’d love to be able to send you the name of 3 authors I would consider thought leaders in my niche and get you / your system to do the processing. It’s that all you would need from me?
Thanks Mia, this is such a great article! For me, working in higher education, one 'best practice' that is complete BS is the complete 'banning' of AI for assessment. Doing this creates a punitive system that punishes students rather than exploring opportunities for dialogue and critical thinking.
I totally agree. It risks missing a huge opportunity to teach students how to critically engage with these tools. Punishing curiosity may stifle learning more than the AI itself ever could.
Thanks for your perspective, super valuable as always!

I mean, I'm super happy that I wrecked your plans hahaha 😂
You will indeed fall into the rabbit hole, but you'll LOVE it!

Love to hear that! :) you're going to uncover SO MANY cool things.
Thank you so much for reading! ❤️
Great article!
I wonder if it is possible to build a custom GPT with your suggestions.
That would be a great way to interact with this content
I might have something in mind already 💡
Thank you so much! ❤️
Keep us up to date!
A workflow maybe? :)
A hub of workflows!
that’s a $$ opportunity! good luck!
thank you!! 🤞❤️

Your post comes to me in the right moment.

You're so welcome, thank you so much! :) I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Try out the workflow with 3 of your competitors and you'll see some awesome patterns emerge. It'll give you so many new ideas for content!
Absolutely love these prompts. Really like how this makes you question the usual "best practices" everyone follows.

Wow thank you soooo much, Katrina! So happy you read and enjoyed it ❤️🐲
Love the idea and the opportunities it opens up.

Hahahaha plenty of Davids, trust me 😂
Re: video, it's not the showing my face, but the time it takes to do it and the audience fit.
DM me your 3 authors, yes :)
